Park & Field Reservation Info

Park Use Permit Required

A Parks Use Permit is required to reserve a park. Group gatherings in City of Aspen parks must complete a PARKS USE PERMIT. Since all City of Aspen Parks are public parks, this procedure simply helps us avoid scheduling other activities during your event.

Inquiries must be received no less than seven days prior to the requested date of rental.

This also applies to all for-hire catered occasions such as picnics, graduation parties, or other local small groups.

Park rentals are limited to a maximum of four hours and 100 people.

The City of Aspen strives to maintain a balance of private park rentals, special events and public use in the parks and reserves the approve or deny any park usage or rental inquiry. Considerations in decision making include other rentals, cumulative park use during weeks or months, impact on parks and/or resources, capacity of parks and blackout dates due to events or holidays.

**Please understand that a park use permit does not ensure exclusive use of any park. This permit prevents the City of Aspen from booking any other events or gatherings of a park during the requested time and date.

Tents

A park use permit allows a maximum of four 10’x10’ pop-up style tents (or two 10’x20’) and must be anchored by weights or water barrel, no staking of tents allowed. If your tent or structure requirements exceed this limit, please see Special Event Permit section.

Infrastructure

Tents over the above stated dimensions and additional infrastructure or installations such as bounce houses, dunk tanks, mechanical bulls are not allowed in the parks. Tables, chairs, and lawn games are permitted.

Due to fire danger, no grills are allowed in the parks.

Activities That Require Additional Permitting

An event involving any of the following is considered a special event and requires the submission of a SPECIAL EVENT APPLICATION.

  • Tents of greater than 400 sq feet, or staking.
  • Advertising that the event is open to the public.
  • Amplified sound (more than a battery-operated low wattage speaker).
  • Needing to confirm date/time/location more than 6 months in advance.
  • Selling food, alcohol or merchandise.
  • Selling of tickets to the event.
  • Special set ups of stages, barricades, fences or other items.

* All special events must be available and open to the public. No private or exclusive events will be permitted.

The parks listed below are available on an hourly basis. We recommend contacting us first to confirm site availability.
